To help your group and the teachers prepare for the tutor meetings, we would like you to answer a few questions in between sessions. The following paragraphs list the questions for each of the weeks, please write you answers directly underneath the questions.

After the kick-off - Week 1

  • What are you expecting to learn during the Robots course?

Learning how to set up a completely self-created project, without a handbook helping step after step.

  • What kind of coaching do you expect?

We expect the coaches to indicate to us whether we are doing enough work on the project and if we are going in the right direction. Also, we see the coaching as an opportunity to ask questions about issues we can't figure out ourselves

  • What kind of coaching would you prefer?

We prefer the coaching as a meeting in which we get to know from the coaches on how we are doing in the project and what we could improve.

  • What will the coaches expect of you?

The coaches will expect from us that we put enough effort in the project and that we come with concrete questions if necessary.

After the first tutor meeting - Week 2

  • What is the most interesting thing you learned in the coaching meeting of the previous week and why?

We learned that we had to specify our case, which made us think about the course in a new way.

  • How did you incorporate coaches' feedback of the previous meeting in your project?

We completely revised our problem statement and deliverables.

  • What new activities did you undertake during this week? What did you learn from these activities?

We set up a list of RPCs and did a new literature study on our specific case.

  • What did you do to prepare for next week's meeting?

We looked up sources, wrote RPCs and made up some first concepts.

After the second tutor meeting - Week 3

  • What is the most interesting thing you learned in the coaching meeting of the previous week and why?

That we need to be very specific in defining our problem, design requirements en planning

  • How did you incorporate coaches' feedback of the previous meeting in your project?

We created a clear overview of the work that needs to be done, and we defined concepts and updated the RPC's.

  • What new activities did you undertake during this week? What did you learn from these activities?

We made concepts of possible designs and picked one as the optimal solution.

  • What did you do to prepare for next week's meeting?

We had several meetings to dicus the RPC's and concepts we made outside the meeting

After the third tutor meeting - Week 4

  • What is the most interesting thing you learned in the coaching meeting of the previous week and why?

We should look more into the USE aspect of this course, specifically in the way that the various stakeholders change the design of the prototype. We did incorperate these aspects into the design but didn't write these out on the wiki yet.

  • How did you incorporate coaches' feedback of the previous meeting in your project?

For this week we made it clear to the tutor how we've incorperated the USE aspect in our design.

  • What new activities did you undertake during this week? What did you learn from these activities?

The USE analyis has been done, NX drawings have been made, and we looked into the hardware and software of our prototype.

  • What did you do to prepare for next week's meeting?

We've completely thought out our prototype and made a shopping list of parts we need for the prototype.

After the fourth tutor meeting - Week 5

  • What is the most interesting thing you learned in the coaching meeting of the previous week and why?

That we needed to hurry up and start ordering

  • How did you incorporate coaches' feedback of the previous meeting in your project?

We hurried up and started ordering

  • What new activities did you undertake during this week? What did you learn from these activities?

Programming is done, mdf arrived, elektronic schematics made and tested

  • What did you do to prepare for next week's meeting?

Build as much as possible to properly show our prototype

After the fifth tutor meeting - Week 6

  • What is the most interesting thing you learned in the coaching meeting of the previous week and why?

We mostly learned that we should do some last improvements on the documentation, such as the real measurements of the prototype, like it should be in the real world and a better formulation of all USE aspects. Also, we learned more about the expectations for the final presentation.

  • How did you incorporate coaches' feedback of the previous meeting in your project?

We improved all our documentation and thought of a structure for the final presentation.

  • What new activities did you undertake during this week? What did you learn from these activities?

We finished the prototype, made a presentation and further improved the wiki.

  • What did you do to prepare for next week's meeting?

Nothing, because there are no more meetings; only the final presentation.

After the final presentation - Week 7

  • What are the major steps of the project? Please list
    • Define a problem statement based on literature research
    • Define state of the art based on literature
    • Make a USE analysis in order to define all RPC's for the project
    • Define RPC's
    • Invent concepts and choose the best one
    • Realise concept into a final design and prototype
  • What is the most important thing you learned in this project? (e.g .about design or working in groups, etc)
    • Doing literature research in order to find problems and state of the art
    • Planning a design project and fixing everything on ourselves, because nothing was provided beforehand
  • What do you wish you had spent more time on or done differently?

We wish we would've better incorporated the electronics in the design, because now we had to ducttape it on the outside as an easy fix, which doesn't look that nice. This was regrettable since we've put a lot of effort in designing the prototype to look good.

  • What was the most enjoyable part of this project? Please explain why

That we actually made a good working prototype in a really short time. We are a group of 5 mechanical engineering students and we like to build things, in this case the prototype. It was enjoyable to design and build a prototype for an existing problem, and to take the different stakeholders into account.

  • What was the least enjoyable part of this project? Please explain why

Literature research, because it seemed bit much work for something we would not be going to use a lot in the further project.
