Introduction
Project definition
Nowadays a lot of streetlights are on well nobody is walking/driving on the street. For this project, the benefits for all stakeholders will be taken into account to come up with SMART streetlights system. For example, this can mean that the streetlights will turn off and on when people are passing them. Our they will maybe have a different color to create a safer place.
Objective
All the different stakeholders have different objectives.
- Users: This are the people driving, walking, cycling, etc past the streetlights. So for their wishes, a literature research has to be done.
- Society: This are the people living in the area where the streetlights are standing. For example, if the color of the streetlights can make sure that the area will be more save it would be a great improvement for the society.
- Entrepreneurs: This are the people designing and making the SMART streetlights. For the companies, the most important is that they can make profit from the SMART streetlights, otherwise they will not make them. So when designing the SMART streetlights the right decisions in for example material have to be made
Approach
The approach for this project is to start with literature study for what the users, society, and entrepreneurs want. Also, there are different people working on the TU/e that are involved with streetlight experiment. It is possible to do some interviews with those peoples. After all the information is collected, ideas for how the SMART streetlights will work can be conceived. These ideas can be tested to test which one is the best and then a prototype can be built or software or hardware can be written.
