A huge amount of information is communicated to people through text. Many of that is not obtainable for fully blind or near-blind people. It is possible to make a large portion of this information accessible by designing a portable device to assist the blind. This device would be able to scan text and present it in braille code. When designed carefully, this device could make it easy for the blind to read books, hand written texts and text contained within images.
